SAN LUIS OBISPO — The talents of student soloists will be showcased and celebrated at the Cal Poly Symphony’s Winter Concert at 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, in Harman Hall in the Performing Arts Center’s Christopher Cohan Center. In addition, the Stockdale High School Symphony Orchestra from Bakersfield will perform as a featured guest ensemble.

Cal Poly Professors Awarded a $200,000 Healthy Soils State Grant

SAN LUIS OBISPO — An interdisciplinary team of Cal Poly professors and Central Coast vineyards have been awarded a three-year $200,000 grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture Healthy Soils Program to demonstrate the potential for vineyard soils to capture and store carbon through the use of appropriate land management practices.

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Nineteen Cal Poly students will be recognized for their awards and other accomplishments by state lawmakers on the floors of the state Assembly and Senate in Sacramento on Monday, Feb. 12.

“I’m proud to accompany these fine young men and women, a group that includes some of our best and brightest students,” said university President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. “These campus leaders in their respective colleges will share with state representatives the value of the Learn by Doing education. In just a matter of months, several will make the transition from campus to careers, where the skills they developed as students will make them future industry leaders.”

Cal Poly’s Camp PolyHacks Event Works Toward Solutions Through a Social-Entrepreneurship Hackathon

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Camp PolyHacks, an event where designers, developers, entrepreneurs and others build a fully functional product in 21 hours, took place Jan. 12-13. The social-entrepreneurship hackathon focused on creating solutions to four problems that face the San Luis Obispo community.
