Cal Poly Technology Park Welcomes Healthcare IQ

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly has signed a sublease with Healthcare IQ for office space in the university’s Technology Park. Healthcare IQ, an independent data management and analytics company, is known for setting the industry standard for healthcare informatics.

Informatics is defined as the science of information and computer information systems.

“We are excited to have Healthcare IQ join us as permanent members of the campus community through our Technology Park,” said Jim Dunning, Cal Poly’s director of economic development and technology transfer. “Healthcare IQ will provide real-world experiences to our students in the areas of data science and analytics.”

Maureen Donovan, Healthcare IQ executive vice president administration, said, “As Healthcare IQ strives to transform healthcare data into unbiased insights and advanced analytics, we look forward to being part of a like-minded community that is centered on fostering innovation through collaboration. Of the many exciting opportunities sure to unfold because of this collaboration, we are especially pleased to be engaging in research with world-class faculty, attracting students for internships, and developing leading-edge technologies.”

A project of the university’s Research and Economic Development office, the Cal Poly Technology Park serves as a home for technology-based businesses, particularly firms engaged in applied research and development. Presence in the park enhances the ability of companies to benefit from the expertise and skills of Cal Poly faculty and students. The first phase of the Technology Park project, completed in 2010, encompasses a 25,000-square-foot building and is now 100 percent occupied.

Cal Poly is in the conceptual site-planning stages to expand the Technology Park into an Innovation Complex with additional office, research and flexible space to accommodate the private sector’s growing demand to collaborate with the university.
