Cal Poly to Host Feb. 4 Debate for 24th District Congressional Candidates 

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Five candidates seeking to represent the Central Coast in the U.S. Congress will discuss their priorities and the major issues facing local constituents and the nation in a debate from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Spanos Theatre at Cal Poly.

KCBX FM News Director Randol White will moderate discussion involving 24th Congressional District candidates Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, Santa Barbara County Supervisor Salud Carbajal, Pro Band Sports Industries Vice President Justin Fareed, Citizens Congress Director Bill Ostrander, Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, and engineer Steve Isakson. Individuals who have recently requested paperwork to file for candidacy have also been invited to participate.

The candidates will address the federal government’s role in higher education, economic growth and prosperity, environmental sustainability and water policy, and social divisions including political polarization. Audience members will also have the opportunity to submit questions about issues not covered in the main discussion. 

Admission is free and open to the public; however, space is limited and registration is required. Complimentary parking is available in the Grand Avenue parking structure when a ticket to the event is presented.
