Cal Poly Student Art Exhibit to Open in University Art Gallery April 14

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cal Poly’s 2016 Annual Juried Student Exhibition, featuring a wide variety of work made in Art and Design Department classes, will open with a reception at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the University Art Gallery.

Students’ diverse creative abilities will be showcased in photographs, videos, paintings, drawings, graphic designs and sculptures — all on display until May 13.

The exhibit is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The University Art Gallery is located on the ground floor of the Dexter Building (No. 34).

About the University Art Gallery
The University Art Gallery fosters creativity, empathy, innovation, design skills, storytelling, and big-picture thinking by bringing bold thinkers, emerging and established artists, and creative professionals to campus. Providing a venue for multiple exhibitions each academic year, the University Art Gallery serves Cal Poly and the surrounding area. The gallery showcases nationally and internationally known artists, as well as student, alumni and faculty artwork.

About the Cal Poly Art and Design Department
The Cal Poly Art and Design Department offers students a solid foundation in the major’s various concentrations and fosters the development of studio practice tied to a focus on conceptual abilities. Students have the option to study graphic design, photography or studio art. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and has built a national reputation of producing successful alumni.
