Pianist W. Terrence Spiller to Perform Beethoven Sonatas May 13 at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Pianist and Cal Poly Music Department Chair W. Terrence Spiller will give an all-Beethoven recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, in the Pavilion of the Performing Arts Center.

Spiller is beginning his survey of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. This multi-year cycle — to be covered in annual spring recitals — starts off with a program of four sonatas: Opus 2 No. 3 in C major, Opus 26 in A-flat major, Opus 14 No.2 in G major, and Opus 81a in E-flat major (“Les adieux”).

Tickets are $9 for students and $14 for the public. Proceeds will benefit the Cal Poly Music Department Scholarship Fund.

Pricing includes all Performing Arts Center fees, and event parking is sponsored by the PAC. Tickets are sold at the Cal Poly Ticket Office between noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. To order by phone, call SLO-4TIX (756-4849).

The Music Department offers a 10 percent discount to patrons who buy season tickets to four of its events through the Cal Poly Ticket Office; a 15 percent discount is given on tickets to five or more events.

The concert is sponsored by Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts and Music Department. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
