Volunteers Sought for Third Canyon Clean Up Day Oct. 10 at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO — The College of Architecture & Environmental Design (CAED) is seeking volunteer help to clean up the Poly Canyon area on campus Saturday, Oct. 10.

Canyon Days 3 will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is part of an overall effort to revitalize the area and repair damage caused by vandalism.

The Poly Canyon Structural Design Laboratory is home to more than 20 experimental prototypes, including sculptures and residential design/build projects. Many generations of students have worked on projects in the canyon, some dating back to 1964.

Volunteers are sought for painting, demolition, construction, landscaping, and overall clean-up, in preparation for canyon tours that will be held Oct. 23-24 during Mustang Family Weekend and Homecoming. Lunch and music will be provided.

“Canyon Days moves us one step closer to providing future students an opportunity to experience what alumni have experienced in the past: a rich and memorable Learn by Doing experience.” said CAED associate dean Kevin Dong.

To volunteer, email Dong at kdong@calpoly.edu. For more information, call 805-756-5138.
