Cal Poly Faculty Chamber Recital Set for November 5
SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Cal Poly Music Department will present a faculty chamber recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (Building 45) on campus.
This is the second year of a biannual series of chamber recitals in which faculty join forces to perform masterworks of chamber music -- beloved gems and less-known works alike.
Antonio Vivaldi’s Bassoon Concerto in E minor will be performed by Lisa Nauful, bassoon; Paul Severtson, violin; Grace Seng, violin; David Hennessee, viola; Jeanne Shumway, cello; Ken Hustad, bass and David Arrivée, harpsichord.
Shelly Granger on flute will be joined by violinist Severtson and cellist Shumway in a performance of Joseph Haydn’s “London Trio No. 3” in G major.
The first half will conclude with Granger, saxophonist Dave Becker and pianist Susan Azaret Davies playing “Epitaph De Jean Harlow” by Charles Koechlin.
After intermission, Ludwig Thuille's Sextet for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon and piano will be performed by Granger, Linda Ashworth, Keith Waibel, Jennifer Galvan, Nauful and Davies.
Admission is $5 at the door. The recital is sponsored by the Cal Poly Music Department and College of Liberal Arts. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
