Cal Poly to Host Ron Luchsinger for Vocal Master Class Apr. 19
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Ron Luchsinger, a stage director, producer, acting coach, lecturer and dramaturge, will present a vocal master class at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 19, in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (Building 45) on campus.
Several of the Cal Poly Music Department’s leading voice students will perform and be critiqued on their performance. The public is welcome to attend.
Luchsinger has staged more than 200 operas, operettas and musical theater works in five languages, ranging from works of Claudio Monteverdi to Benjamin Britten and Stephen Sondheim. He has taught and directed at the Hartt School, University of Hartford (Connecticut). He has also served on the faculties of the University of Connecticut and the California Music Center.
He served as resident stage director at Connecticut Opera and at Lyric Opera of Dallas and was artistic director for Simsbury Light Opera, Troupers Light Opera and Commonwealth Opera. He joined Opera North (Lebanon, N.H.) in 1978. He continues to direct throughout the U.S. and keeps a busy schedule of dramatic coaching, master classes and lectures.
The free master class is made possible by Cal Poly’s Opera Workshop and is sponsored by the Cal Poly Music Department, College of Liberal Arts and Instructionally Related Activities program.
