Cal Poly University Jazz Band Swing Dance Concert Set for April 22
Free Dance Lessons to be Offered Before the Show
SAN LUIS OBISPO - The public is invited to a dance concert Friday, April 22, featuring original swing-era tunes played by Cal Poly’s University Jazz Band No. 1.
The concert will run from 8 to 10:30 p.m. in Chumash Auditorium in the University Union on campus. Free swing dance lessons will be given at 7 p.m.
The University Jazz Band will perform authentic big-band classics suitable for dancing or listening, including original arrangements by Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Count Basie and others.
Admission to the dance is $10 for the public and $6 for students. The event is sponsored by the Cal Poly Music Department, College of Liberal Arts and the Instructionally Related Activities program.
