Cal Poly University Advancement
Familiar Face to Work With Alumni, Parents, Friends
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly announces the launch of a new Regional Development Program to enhance Cal Poly’s outreach in key areas around the state. Richard (Ritchie) LeRoy (M.A., Education, ‘02), former assistant director of Alumni Relations, has been named as the regional development director for University Advancement.
In the new position, LeRoy will travel the state helping alumni, parents and friends of the university reconnect with Cal Poly in meaningful ways including volunteer opportunities and advocacy. He will also work with college- and unit-based development operations to identify giving opportunities that support the university.
LeRoy already has a long history with Cal Poly as a student and staff member. From 2000 to 2008, he was the director of Pacific Programs for International Education where he managed faculty-led study abroad programs. He then served as the assistant director of the Cal Poly Alumni Association managing regionally-based alumni chapters before moving to the new development position.
A native of New Orleans, La., LeRoy received bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Louisiana State University in 1995. After serving two years in the Peace Corps in Armenia, he moved to San Luis Obispo in 1998, first joining the Cal Poly family as a student completing his master’s in education.
