Cal Poly Landscape Architecture Student Awarded National Scholarship
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly Landscape Architecture student
Saul Cuevas was awarded the EDSA Minority 2008 Scholarship through the Landscape Architecture Foundation.
"Saul is a hard working student who often envisions creative design solutions that inspire both his fellow students and faculty to look at the site potential in a new and innovative manner. We are very proud of him for earning this prestigious scholarship. It is very competitive, since it is one of the largest awards administered by the Landscape Architecture Foundation," said Margarita Hill, department head for Landscape Architecture.
EDSA is an internationally-renowned full-service planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and graphic design firm headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They established the $5,000 scholarship to help minority students continue their landscape architecture education. Students entering their final two years of undergraduate study are eligible.
The scholarship was awarded through the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) whose mission is to support the preservation, improvement and enhancement of the environment. The LAF awarded 24 scholarships and fellowship grants totaling $96,500 in 2008. The winning students were selected from a pool of 144 applicants.
