University Police Make Arrests in Connection to String of Campus Burglaries

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Yesterday, Cal Poly University Police arrested two people in connection to a string of burglaries that occurred on campus over the past several weeks.

San Luis Obispo County residents Tonya Goodson, 26 and Jason Tavolazzi, 29 were arrested yesterday on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property. Neither suspect is connected to Cal Poly.

Goodson and Tavolazzi were apprehended following a three-week investigation into a series of thefts that occurred in various campus locations including the Music Building, the Recreation Center, Mott Gym and campus parking lots. Stolen items included backpacks, wallets, credit cards and laptop computers.

UPD Chief Bill Watton is taking this opportunity to remind people that even in the safest communities, bad things can happen. “It’s very important to remember to lock up valuables and report any suspicious persons or activities to police immediately,” he said.
