Cal Poly to Host Water Polo Pacific Coast Division Championships                                          

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Cal Poly Men's Water Polo team will host the Pacific Coast Division Championships at the Cal Poly Rec Center Pool at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Eight top teams from the regular season will compete in the tournament. Participants, along with Cal Poly, are: UCLA, CSU Maritime Academy, Chico State, UC Santa Barbara, UC Berkeley, San Jose State, UC San Diego, and Cal Poly.

From this tournament, the top-scoring team will represent the Pacific Coast Division at the 2008 Men's National Collegiate Club Water Polo Championship tournament Nov. 14-16 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

The Cal Poly Mustangs, who finished their 2008 league play with a record of 7-1, will take on UC San Diego on Saturday morning.

Cal Poly has won five national titles (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2007) and remains the only team to capture back-to-back water polo titles.
