Cal Poly Welcomes Craig B. Smith, Expert
on the Great Pyramid of Giza, April 10

SAN LUIS OBISPO ‑ World-renown engineer and author Craig B. Smith will present a highly rated, illustrated talk about the design and construction of Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza on Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m., in the PAC Pavilion.

Smith has appeared on the History Channel, A&E, and PBS, and been featured in National Geographic magazine. He has nearly 40 years of experience in engineering and construction, supplemented by a devout interest in Egyptian architecture.

This interest fueled the research for “How the Great Pyramid Was Built,” a book authored by Smith which offers a new theory – now proven correct – about the design and construction of Egypt’s most iconic structure.

Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Science and Ph.D. in engineering from UCLA, where he once served as the assistant director of the Nuclear Energy Laboratory and an assistant professor of engineering. In 2003, he became chairman of Daniel, Mann, Johnson, Mendenhall, Holmes & Narver (DMJM H&N), one of the largest and most prominent architecture and engineering firms in the country.

Cal Poly’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, and the College of Engineering will present the event, which will also feature a book signing and refreshments.
