March 10, 2007 Contact: Virginia Walter Andy Schaeffer Cal Poly Open House Flower Show Seeking Entries, Visitors SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly is looking for a few good gardeners -- and their roses, daffodils, orchids and more -- for the annual Community Flower Show, part of the university's Open House, April 17-19. Community members are invited to enter their flower specimens in the show, which will be open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Contestants will have the opportunity to enter perennials, annuals, bulbs, blooms from flowering shrubs, roses and container plants. For a full list of entry sections and classes, contact Professor Virginia Walter at vwalter@calpoly.edu. Entries will be judged by the 2008 Cal Poly Flower Judging Team, and awards will be given. Anyone interested in entering their flowers can register from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday, April 19. Registration will be in the Agricultural Sciences Building, Room 103. All entries are due by 8 a.m. April 19. The flowers will be on display in the same location. The Community Flower Show is sponsored by the Cal Poly chapter of Pi Alpha Xi Horticulture Honor Society.
