Photo Opportunity: 70th Annual FFA Finals Saturday at Cal Poly
SAN LUIS OBISPO – More than 2,000 blue and gold jackets will converge at Cal Poly Saturday, May 3, for the 70th Annual California State Future Farmers of America finals.
The judging finals for high school FFA students have been held at Cal Poly since 1917. This weekend, the university’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences is expecting some 2,500 high school FFA members, teachers and parents for the event.
Students from across California will compete in 20 career development areas such as livestock evaluation, poultry judging, ornamental horticulture and farm records.
The winning team from each contest will be designated as state champions and move on to represent California at the national finals in Indianapolis in October.
More than 250 Cal Poly students, faculty and staff, and professional judges have been preparing for months to host this event.
