Cal Poly Kennedy Library Hosts Photo Exhibit In Honor Of César Chávez March 19-April 6
SAN LUIS OBISPO - An exhibit commemorating the struggles and triumphs of early local farm laborers is being featured at Cal Poly. "Viva la Causa! A Decade of Farm Labor Organizing on the Central Coast " will be shown in celebration of the life of César Chávez, March 19 - April 6, in Kennedy Library, Room 409.
The photographs in the traveling documentary were taken by Manuel Echavarria and were San Luis Obispo County 's first photographic history of Latino farm workers documented by a former farm-worker and farm labor organizer.
The exhibit highlights the experiences of the mostly-Latino laborers as they fought for better pay and working conditions in the fields of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
Public viewing hours for the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. To contribute to future archival projects or to book the traveling exhibit, contact Catherine J. Trujillo at 805-756-2305 or ctrujill@calpoly.edu.
