UCSB/Cal Poly Joint Doctoral Program to Host
School Violence Prevention Symposium Dec. 2

SANTA MARIA – The growing issue of school violence is the topic of a symposium hosted by the UCSB/Cal Poly Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, Saturday Dec. 2, at The Santa Maria Inn, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is free and open to the public.

“Preventing School Violence: A Crisis Response Perspective” offers viewpoints from law enforcement, local government and regional education leaders.

The main speaker is Ray Vuillemainroy, a sergeant with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and the author of School Violence Response Kit. The kit is an innovative program to help law enforcement officers respond to school emergencies. It is used along the Central Coast, has been presented at the White House, and has served as a prototype for similar programs across California.

Space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact the Joint Doctoral Program Academic Coordinator, Patrick Faverty, by Tuesday, Nov. 21. Call 805-893-3301 or email pfaverty@education.ucsb.edu.
