Third Time Will Charm With Garrison Keillor
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA – The charming, witty, and always entertaining writer and humorist Garrison Keillor is probably best known for his widely popular radio show “A Prairie Home Companion” and his best-selling books, including “Lake Wobegon Days.”
On Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 8 p.m. in Harman Hall of the Christopher Cohan Center, Cal Poly Arts presents the third return engagement of the American icon in “An Evening With Garrison Keillor.”
Tickets for this special added Cal Poly Arts Center Stage event are on sale as of 10 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Performing Arts Center Ticket Office.
With his wonderful, dry sense of humor, Keillor will captivate
audiences, delivering class, charisma, and wisdom in this new solo
evening of comic monologues and thought-provoking observations.
True to his radio form, Keillor will share some of the most hilarious
anecdotes about growing up in the American Midwest and about the aging
process, not to mention “late-life fatherhood.”
There might even be a story about movies in Hollywood, as he most
recently played himself in Robert Altman’s movie adaptation of “A
Prairie Home Companion,” which featured Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin as
the singing Johnson sisters, Lindsay Lohan as Streep's daughter, Woody
Harrelson and John C. Reilly as singing cowboys Lefty and Dusty, and
Tommy Lee Jones as the Axeman, who is dispatched by the radio station's
new corporate owners in Texas to shut down the show.
Tickets for the Center Stage performance range from $52 to $64 and may be purchased at the Performing Arts Ticket Office, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
