Solar Decathlon Film Premieres at Cal Poly May 25
SAN LUIS OBISPO --- Cal Poly will host the world premiere of "Solar Decathlon 2005- A Solar Village on the National Mall" Thursday, May 25, at 6 p.m. in the Rotunda (Room 213) of the Business Building on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Cal Poly's 2005 Solar Decathlon team placed third in a competition that included 18 teams from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Spain. Competing teams were challenged to design, build, transport and operate the best solar-powered home at the bi-annual event last fall in Washington, D.C.
The film, produced by the Rahus Institute, follows the Cal Poly team through the design-build process and travels with the team across country to the competition. It also offers a detailed look at all 18 solar homes and the teams who entered the competition.
Preceding the film, Cal Poly's Solar Decathlon House will be open to the public from 4 to 6 p.m. The house is located next to the Cal Poly Corporation Warehouse in parking lot H-1 on Mt. Bishop Road .
