SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Jeff Halper, a scholar and writer from Jerusalem, will give a presentation titled “Palestine/Israel: Peace or Permanent Conflict” from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 15, in the Pavilion of the Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly.

The talk will examine the partition of Palestine, the building of the separation barrier or security wall – dubbed the “apartheid wall” by Palestinians – and recent political developments in the area, according to Cal Poly history Professor Manzar Foroohar, moderator of the event.
Halper has taught at Israeli universities and has published extensively on the issue of peace and conflict in Palestine and Israel. He is a 2006 Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

The talk is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Cal Poly College of Liberal Arts and History Department. For more information, contact the History Department at 756-2543 or Foroohar at 756-2068.
