Annual Cal Poly Poinsettia Sale Starts Nov. 28
SAN LUIS OBIPO -- Cal Poly's annual poinsettia sale, featuring more than 2,500 poinsettias in 29 different varieties and colors, begins Monday, Nov. 28, at the Poly Plant Shop and continues through mid-December.
The holiday flowers are grown by students involved in the university's Poinsettia Enterprise Project, which begins in May every year. This year's poinsettia offerings include reds, whites, pinks, and other novelty colors such as pink with white spots and red with pink spots. Plant sizes range from four inches to four feet tall, and include "trees" trained and trimmed to form a trunk with poinsettia blooms in a rounded sphere at top. Price ranges from $5-$55.
The annual Cal Poly Poinsettia Project Open House sales will be Friday and Saturday Dec. 2 and 3 and Dec. 9 and 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors can also find poinsettias at the Poly Plant Shop weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. To get there, take the Highland Drive entrance to campus. Turn left onto Via Carta Rd.; the plant shop is at the top of the hill on the right, and metered parking is available. For details Contact the Plant Shop at 756-1106.
