Cal Poly Business Club Wins National Notice, Scholarship Funding

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly's collegiate chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for business schools, has won national notice and scholarship funding.

The Cal Poly Chapter has been recognized as an "exemplary chapter" for its superior level of membership acceptance in the 2003-2004 academic year. The award commends Cal Poly's Beta Gamma Sigma chapter for its success in recruiting top business students into the society.

Of the 417 BGS chapters on college and university campuses across the nation, only 52 were recognized as "exemplary" in 2004.

Thanks to its exemplary status, the Cal Poly BGS chapter will receive $1,000 to award as a scholarship during the 2005-2006 academic year.

Each year, BGS chapters extend membership invitations to the top seven percent of business juniors, 10 percent of business seniors, and 20 percent of business graduate students on campus. Those campuses achieving an 85 percent acceptance rate at any one of the three academic levels are designated "exemplary."
