San Luis Obispo -- Associated Students, Inc. is adding a new DVD/video rental store to the Julian A. McPhee University Union this fall.
Insomniac U is moving into the space previously occupied by TravelTime, downstairs in the Union next to Julian's, according to Director of Julian A. McPhee University Union Dave Edwards.
"The DVD/video store will provide mainstream new releases for the campus community but will continue to specialize in eclectic rentals," he said. "They will also sell concession items such as popcorn and candy."
Owner and operator John Jones said that his video store is already well established in the Cal Poly community. "Cal Poly professors send their students to our store Insomniac Video on Broad Street to rent classic, foreign language and cult films on VHS and DVD," said Jones. "And if a student cannot find something at Insomniac U, we will be able to get it from Insomniac Video downtown."
Insomniac U will offer both VHS and DVD rentals at a cost of $3 for three nights, according to Edwards. "ASI and Insomniac U expect the store to be open for the first day of fall quarter to serve the campus," he added.
