Open House 2002 to Present 'Passport to Poly'
Tens of thousands of people are expected to make San Luis
Obispo and Cal Poly their destination April 19-21 for the university's 9th
Annual Open House.
This year's "Passport to Poly" promises to provide a memorable
experience for all who attend, said Kat Corey, a journalism senior and public
relations director for Open House 2002. "The theme was chosen to symbolize
how education at Cal Poly, much like a passport, gives students the freedom to
pursue their dreams."
The three-day event will kick off on April 19 with Admitted Students
Preview Day, when conditionally admitted students are invited to tour
the campus, meet with professors, and find out about university
resources.
On April 20, the traditional Open House carnival, club booths and
special events, including the tractor pull and rodeo, will be open to
the public. A few surprises are also planned.
The weekend will wrap up on April 21 with alumni events and the Open
House Golf Classic, to be held at Blacklake Golf Resort in Nipomo.
"The committee has been brainstorming for new ways to make the 2002
event better than ever," Corey said.
