Three Successful Alumni to Address Commencement Ceremonies Dec. 15
A software CEO, a television producer and an aerospace executive -- all Cal Poly alumni -- will address some 900 candidates for graduation at the university's three Fall Commencement ceremonies Dec. 15 in the campus Recreation Center.
Candidates from the colleges of Business and Engineering and their families and friends will hear an address by Veritas Software CEO and President Gary Bloom at 9 a.m. Bloom earned a Cal Poly degree in computer science in 1982.
"Entertainment Tonight" producer Brad Bessey was active in Cal Poly's theater program while he was studying agriculture. He will address the College of Architecture and Environmental Design and the College of Liberal Arts at 1 p.m.
At 3:30 p.m. Northrop Grumman Navigation Systems Division Vice President and General Manager William J. Allison will deliver a commencement address to candidates in agriculture, science and mathematics, and teacher education. He earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in
1977.
More than 950 candidates for diplomas and certificates will be recognized. Approximately 900 of them are candidates for bachelor's degrees, 60 for master's degrees and one for a two-year technical
certificate.
