If you haven't been back to campus in a while, a visit is sure to show you plenty of new faces and facelifts -- for buildings, that is.
Cal Poly is home to a new Engineering Plaza between the Advanced Technology Laboratories and the new Bonderson Projects Center and Engineering IV Building. All opened doors during the 2006-07 academic year.
Also open are the new grandstands at the Alex G. Spanos Stadium and Mustang Memorial Field, formerly known as Mustang Stadium. Families and friends of graduates were seated in the new stands -- including suite boxes -- for Spring Commencement June 16, 2007.
Families are moving into the first phases of Bella Montana, a 69-unit development of faculty and staff housing at Highway 1 and Highland Drive -- across Highway 1 from the Highland Drive entrance to campus. And construction is steaming ahead on Poly Canyon Village.
The university's newest student housing complex is set to open in 2008 and when completed will house 2,700 students complete with 1,900 parking spaces, a parking garage, its own rec center, and a commercial and food service "village" area.
